Quilting Services

I would love to quilt your quilt top!
You just need to bring your top, backing, and batting if you have it. (there is batting available for purchase, you can see types and prices below) they should be separate and not pinned or basted.
When you arrive, we will together decide on a quilting design and thread.
The backing needs to be in one piece, and about four inches larger than the top on all four sides. ex. if your quilt is 50 " x 60", the backing should optimally be 58" x 68".
Don't baste the layers together, they are loaded onto the frame separately.
Glide thread is included in the price. It is a 40 weight trilobal polyester. If you prefer another type of thread, such as a 40 wt cotton, you can bring it along for to use on your quilt.
The prices are on a per square inch basis. Ex. if your quilt is 50" x 60", it is 3000 square inches. If the chosen design is 2cents psi, it would be $60.00 plus gst. If the design were a custom 6 cents psi, it would end up being $180.00 plus gst. So the prices can range quite a lot depending on the type of quilting you want.
Turn around time is quite prompt. We usually have your quilt back to you within a couple of weeks.
(At this point I don't work on denim quilts)

There are four main ways I can quilt your quilt, depending on how you want it done.

Who is the quilt intended for?
How much time/money do you want to invest?
Do you want the focus to be on the piecing or the quilting texture?

The first two categories of quilting can be described as All-over Patterns, or Edge to Edge Designs
these provide an even texture over the surface of the quilt
- they are stitched without regard for the piecing design
- you can use specific motifs, ex, leaves,, boats, butterflies, etc
-come in a range of “densities”– how close together the lines are
1. a Pantograph has very systematic coverage, and prices can range from 1.75 to 3 cents per square inch (PSI) (sample #1) we have about 120 designs to choose from,
you can see them here,

2. Another way to cover the whole surface of the quilt with an all-over pattern is with a free motion design.
Free motion designs are often more dense than a pantograph, prices can range from 2 to 3 cents1/2 cents per square inch. They can be varied in size to suit your project, or 2 or 3 designs can be combined on one quilt,
(sample #2)
There are several patterns you can choose from.

The third and fourth categories are when the quilting is tailored to the piecing designs in the quilt, so it is customized. It is also possible to use more than one thread color for these.

3. Simple Custom 3-1/2 to 5 cents per square inch
- not very dense coverage
- some echoing of shapes
-limited amount of stitch in the ditch

4. Regular Custom quilting, ( sample #4) 5 to 8 cents psi
-more Stitch in the ditch, and some ruler work,
-more dense coverage than simple custom
- picture frame borders, +$25.00
